In this unit of work twelve lessons plans have been devised and developed and each have a different focus that will allow students to develop their understanding further on the characteristics and diversity of living and non-living things.
Lesson plans 1, 2 and 3 focus on introducing living and non-living things and their characteristics. These lessons also focus on how to create an experiment using bean plants. These three plans were developed by Tashmin Ali.
Furthermore, lesson plans 4, 5 and 6 focus on the life cycle of plants and what makes them living things. In these lessons there is also a focus on the diversity of plants and conducting an experiment. These three plans were developed by Nicole Ghazal.
Lesson plans 7, 8 and 9 focus on the life cycle of animals and what makes them living things. Furthermore, in this lesson there is also a focus on the diversity of animals. These three plans were developed by Ysanne Jones.
Lastly, lesson plans 10, 11 and 12 focus on the environment that living things inhabit and how this environment supports them. In these three lessons there is a particular focus on animals and what the environment in which they live does to support them in surviving. These plans were developed by Christine Costi.
